Sanctuary Cities Keep Releasing Sex Offenders to Avoid ICE Detainers

The stories of illegal aliens committing felonies and being released back into the community are too numerous to recount.

Time and again, I read about illegal aliens who have committed heinous crimes being hastily released by local law enforcement to ensure that they can escape the clutches of ICE. Providing sanctuary to sex offenders is a priority, it seems, as long as they enter the country illegally.

If you peruse the ICE website's news releases, you find story after story of ICE arresting dangerous felons--only after having to search for them because some local authority or another has released them back into the public.

Rushed to release them because these places are "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens. Sanctuary city doesn't just mean "illegal immigrants are welcome here." It means that the city will actively protect criminals from the consequences of their actions.

WASHINGTON — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. apprehended a Honduran national charged locally for sex crimes against a Virginia minor. Deportation officers from ERO Washington’s Mobile Criminal Apprehension Team arrested the 30-year-old Honduran noncitizen April 15 at his residence in Bladensburg, Maryland.

“This Honduran noncitizen stands accused of some very serious crimes and represented a threat to the children of the Washington, D.C. area,” said ERO Washington, D.C. Field Office Director Liana Castano. “When local jurisdictions have policies in place which prohibit them from cooperating with ICE ERO and from honoring our lawfully issued detainers and administrative warrants, they put the suspects, law enforcement officers, and most importantly, the members of our local communities at risk. ERO Washington, D.C. will continue to prioritize public safety by apprehending and removing the most egregious noncitizen threats from our neighborhoods.”

The Honduran national unlawfully entered the United States on an unknown date, at an unknown location, without being inspected, admitted or paroled by a U.S. immigration official.

Virginia’s Fairfax County Police Department arrested the Honduran national July 5, 2023, and charged him with felony carnal knowledge of child 13-14 years of age: without force.

ERO Washington, D.C. placed an immigration detainer against the Honduran noncitizen with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center July 6, 2023.

The Fairfax County Adult Detention Center did not honor ERO Washington, D.C.’s immigration detainer and released the noncitizen from custody on a $10,000 bond on July 10, 2023.

The Fairfax County Police Department arrested the Honduran national again on Feb. 22, 2024, and charged him with two additional counts of felony carnal knowledge of child 13-14years of age: without force and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child less than 15 years of age. Later that day, the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center released him from custody before ERO Washington could file an immigration detainer against him.

Did you catch that? The guy was committing sexual assaults against children--multiple times with multiple arrests--and Fairfax County rushed to release him before ICE could arrest him.

Illegal aliens come before children. Seriously, that is what they think.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston arrested an unlawfully present Ecuadoran national who was convicted of second degree assault and indecent assault of a child in Connecticut. Deportation officers from ERO Boston’s Hartford field office apprehended the 27-year-old Ecuadoran native in Hartford April 17. Local authorities had previously declined to honor ERO Boston’s immigration detainer and released the Ecuadoran national without notifying U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.

"Second-degree assault and indecent assault on a child." He was released after the local police refused to honor an ICE detainer.

If you wonder "What are they thinking," you are not alone. But that is only because you don't think like a Democrat. They have chosen a side, and it isn't the general public's. They spin stories about frightened families escaping from tyranny and just looking for a better life. And, indeed, that is true for some.

But that isn't who the police are picking up. There aren't dragnets for illegal aliens where police are scouring their communities rooting out peaceful illegal aliens in order to torture them. When the police catch them they have almost certainly committed a crime, and it wasn't jaywalking.

Those crimes for which they earned a quick release were often heinous

HARTFORD, Conn. — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston arrested an unlawfully present Jamaican national convicted of second degree robbery with a weapon in Hartford. Deportation officers from ERO Boston’s Hartford suboffice arrested the 25-year-old Jamaican national April 3, after he was previously released by the Connecticut Department of Corrections despite the existence of an active federal immigration detainer seeking his custody.

These are just a few of the criminals that ICE had to track down--all arrested this month--because local authorities are shielding them, placing the American public at risk. They are choosing to do this. These aren't accidents. Sex offenders. Armed robbery.

Many of the stories you have read about in which illegal aliens are committing murder are not one-offs. These criminals have often been caught before and released, and the releases happen because somebody chose to do it, defying federal law enforcement.

How many kids need to be sexually assaulted, and how many people be robbed or murdered before our lawmakers wake up and reverse these deadly policies?

Who knows? This has been going on for years and years. Decades, in some cases. So the answer appears to be an unlimited number.

Joe Biden has opened our borders, and some countries are emptying their jails to get rid of their scummiest citizens.

The Democrats seem fine with that. More than fine--they are fighting governors to ensure it keeps happening.

And still, tens of millions of Americans will vote to keep it up, because Orange Man Bad. Sick.
